After Philharmonics and Aventine, two albums certified Platinum in France and each sold more than a million copies, the Danish magnetic AGNES OBEL returns with a new album, “Citizen Of Glass”.
It was during his last tour that the artist found this title for an album deliberately centered on glass. Both strong and fragile, the glass figuratively represents the way in which everyone constantly reveals themselves – on social networks, with their circle of friends, etc.
For this album recorded, produced and mixed by her in Berlin, AGNES OBEL therefore explores the concept of transparency while offering a new approach to her music: her vocals are manipulated and fragmented to create new versions of her own voice. Also, various original instruments are added to the dreamlike sound universe of AGNES OBEL, such as the trautonium, a monodic electronic musical instrument dating from the last century.
In ten pieces, AGNES OBEL succeeds in studying her favorite theme in depth, both through her melodies and through her words. Special mention for ‘Familiar’, a hypnotic title where the singer makes a duet with her echo.
